‘‘ROCK THE ARK” STATEWIDE MUSIC COMPETITION LAUNCHES MARCH 5

Winners Receive $1,000 & Perform at Noah’s Ark This Summer

WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis., (February 28, 2012) – Noah’s Ark Waterpark, the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI), Pepsi and radio stations throughout Wisconsin are hoping to catch a rising music star this March.  “Rock the Ark,” a statewide music competition, launches Monday, March 5 on radio stations in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Wausau and Eau Claire.  Ten winners — five Rock and five Country singers/bands – will be awarded a $1,000 cash prize, a 2012 season park pass for each band member, and the opportunity to perform this summer at Noah’s Ark.  The winners will be announced on Monday, April 2.

This is the fourth year Rock the Ark has offered Wisconsin musicians the opportunity to upload performance videos and have music fans vote for their favorite on participating radio stations throughout Wisconsin.  The radio stations include:  WHQG FM, 102.9, The Hog (Rock) and WZBK FM, Big Buck Country, 106.9 in Milwaukee; WMAD-FM 96.3 (Country), WZEE-FM 104 (Top 40), and WIBA-FM 101.5 (Classic Rock) in Madison; WIXX-FM 101.1 (Top 40) and WNCY-FM Y100 (Country) in Green Bay; WIFC-FM 95.5 (Top 40) and WHDG, 97.3 Hodag Country in Wausau; and Today’s WAXX 104.5 (Country), I-94 (Top 40) and 92 9 The Big Cheese (Rock) in Eau Claire.

On Monday, March 5 – Sunday, March 25, entrants can register their music act on the websites of the radio stations in, or nearest to, their local market.  Entrants must have a YouTube account and web link to that account in order to upload their performance video.  Country and Rock musicians can enter the contest by going to the “Rock the Ark” page of their local radio station and filling out the necessary requirements, including the web link to their video.  Station-approved music videos will be uploaded for everyone to view.  “Rock the Ark” winners in 2011 are not eligible to compete in the 2012 contest.

Voting will take place from Monday, March 26 – Sunday, April 1.  Individuals can vote for their favorite band once per day.  The music act with the most votes on each radio station will be proclaimed winners on Monday, April 2.  In those radio markets where there are two Rock or two Country stations participating, the winner will be determined by who has the most combined votes from each station.

The 10 winning music acts will perform at Noah’s Ark as part of the “Rock the Ark” Concert Series in 2012.  Each band member who appears in the winning video will also receive one season pass to Noah’s Ark for the entire summer 2012 (or a family 4-pack for the day of the band’s performance).  The band will receive a cash award of $1,000 at the time of their performance.  Noah’s Ark will provide sound equipment, including mics, amps, speakers and mixer, for their performance.
