The Awards Show, which recognizes achievements in more than 30 music categories, will include the induction of this year’s Global “Honorary” WAMI Hall of Fame recipient, arena rock pioneers, Styx.
ABOUT STYX: Styx, the Chicago-area rock band formed in 1970, has released 15 studio albums, many of which are multi-platinum, as well as 16 Top 40 singles. Styx is considered to be an arena rock pioneer, peaking from the mid 1970s thru the early 1980s. They continue to be a rock staple touring throughout the United States and beyond.
WAMI President Zoy Begos states, “WAMI’s mission has always been to promote music and the accomplishments of musicians, so we’re proud to recognize the global achievement of one of the Midwest’s finest rock bands of the past 45 years.”
Wisconsin has been a staple of Styx’s performance itinerary; having played clubs in Wisconsin in the early 1970s to current tour stops at our state’s arenas, amphitheaters and festivals. Fans of the band will have the pleasure of seeing Styx perform this year at Summerfest on June 30.
Begos continues, “WAMI is proud to have Styx as this year’s Global Honorary inductee into the WAMI Hall of Fame. I can’t think of a band who could call Wisconsin their performance home away from home, more than Styx. We’ll formally acknowledge their induction during the 36th Annual Awards Show on April 17.”
The public is invited to attend the Awards Show. Tickets on sale now for the show are $15 student, $29.50 general admission, $50 VIP single and $100 VIP couple. Tickets are available at the Fox Cities PAC Box Office (check for hours of operation) or at www.foxcitiespac.com
