"Business Tips for the Working Musician"

As musicians we tend to love the creative aspects of performing and promoting, so making action plans, paying bills and record-keeping just aren't as much fun. But you know what's even less fun? Playing to an empty room, receiving a phone call from a collection agency, a letter from the IRS, getting sued, or having your gear damaged or stolen.

Whether you're part-time or full-time, a performer or a songwriter, you will want to join us at this month's WAMI general membership meeting as we discuss how to handle the day-to-day business aspects of your music endeavors.

Besides practical advice you can use right away, our panel of experts will provide a broad overview of the basics including marketing (traditional & digital), tracking income & expenses, legal items, taxes, insurance, loss prevention & recovery, and other fundamental aspects. Panel members include a CPA tax accountant, a social media specialist, an insurance agent, a business management professional, and a loss prevention/recovery specialist. The 45 minute presentation overview will include time for general questions, after which the panel will be available for individual questions on a one-on-one basis.
