The seminar is free to WAMI members and $5 for non-members, as participants will be eligible to win prizes in CD Roulette, learn vocal techniques from Tamara Anderson, and have lunch by Chef Pat’s Catering.
The topic for Anderson’s keynote speech, which will begin at 12:30 p.m., is “Grammy Award Winning Vocal Techniques,” a condensed version of the Progressive Singers Workshop that is designed for all levels — whether participants are professional singers, think they can’t sing, or are somewhere in the middle. A well-known vocal instructor and coach who works with numerous recording and touring artists on independent and major labels, Anderson has worked with both beginners and Grammy Award nominees.
A Breakout session on recording will also take place during the seminar by Jeff Taylor Studios.
The popular WAMI CD Roulette competition returns to the seminar, giving the opportunity for bands to submit CD's for critique.
“CD Roulette is a great way for bands to get instant feedback about their recordings,” said Deb Mikesch, WAMI president.
In CD Roulette, judges listen to 90 seconds of each track on randomly chosen bands’ CDs. The judges represent different facets of the music industry, providing bands with various viewpoints.
Based on the judges’ numerical scores, the top three bands earning the most points will receive prizes that include performances at Summerfest, Chick/Male Singer Night at Caroline’s Jazz Club and six hours recording with Renwood Messenger Recording Studios.
