Im glad that this is available in the Wisconsin land area it’s a great step and positive direction our stats music business is going in.
Just thought I would drop by and check your site out! I love it…If you all get a chance, please check out my daughter’s Facebook Artist Page at http://www.facebook.com/SaraLynnWallin and click”like” (if you do)! Thank you for your time and consideration!
I liked the WAMI’s when it was in Milwaukee, and when Latin/Hispanic groups/performers/engineers were included. Wisconsin is rich with Hispanic talent. It’s unfortunate I don’t see any Latin categories, nominees or performers. Music is international and unites people.
I would like to see the WAMI’s periodically move the Awards Banquet to different locations throughout the state including the Milwaukee area. How about trying Eau Claire, LaCrosse, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Dells, Madison?
I would love to see the awards show move around a bit. It’s been in the fox valley area for the second year. No problem with that. How about next year in Madison – followed by the Dells (earlier suggestion) … and yes, I would like to see it back in Milwaukee too.
looking forward to this one ! =) *exited*
Are the awards just for musicians and wami members, or fans welcome to come as well?
Drew,
The WAMI Awards Show on Sunday April 15, as well as the Downtown Alive! WAMI Music Series on Saturday April 14 are open to the Public and all are welcome. The venues for the Downtown Alive! WAMI Music Series serve alcohol and admittance is subject to their rules. WAMI assumes no responsibility.
Great choice for this years event! Looking forward to seeing everyone there!!
I live in Milwaukee and love it when the awards show is there. Obviously I like it there because it is convenient for me. I feel like the majority of WAMI members are from the Milwaukee area. I could be very wrong however, I go to a lot of WAMI events and recognize most people there from the Milwaukee scene.
I think it is great that the awards are in Appleton! It is a bit of a drive with two nights in a hotel and we all know with musician wages neither are a simple task. People from other parts of the state aren’t as active in WAMI as us Milwaukeeans because most every WAMI event is right in our backyard. I have a buddy from Wausau (a 4 hr drive from Milwaukee) who is in Milwaukee *several* times a year for WAMI events and I have met others like him.
I believe in this organization and wish it great success in the coming years. Part of that means more involvement. Lets share kids… It won’t hurt us to travel a little bit every so often for an awards ceremony. It is a beautiful theater in Appleton and the bars around it are great places. I had a blast two years ago when it was there and really look forward to this April.
Just because we live in Milwaukee doesn’t mean we are awesome musicians who deserve to be catered to by WAMI. I know a lot of terrible ones with mega egos that I have shared the stage with. That being said… Stop the complaining! Lets join up together and make this another great year in Milwaukee music history!
Ricky,
Thank you for comment!
Thank you for that comment Ricky. I hate seeing all these Milwaukee musicians and fans complaining that is not in Milwaukee every year. It is tough for us in other parts of the state to ALWAYS make it down to Milwaukee for the WAMIs as well. The Fox Cities PAC is a very beautiful venue and there are lots of things right in that area for before and after the show. I think that makes it a pretty good place to hold this every so often. I am looking forward to being there this year as one of the bands I do sound for will be playing this year. Hope there will be a great turn out and everyone has a great time!
I will say that the Appleton PAC is a very classy and nice place. But we need to fill it then. I think adding room in the balcony for fans would be an option. It would give the peoples choice awards a little more power.
Geoff,
Thanks for your comments. Both points noted!
Hey Guys would love to see a possible location of the awards show in wisconsin dells. Namely for centrally locating to show our outreach to all state artists
I agree the PAC is a great venue, but to Geoff’s point above, the Dells would also be a GREAT location. The Crystal Grand is a great music theater, with tons of good hotel deals in the area in April.
Love that the WAMI’s are in beautiful Appleton WI at the PAC.
I am surprised and very shocked that the WAMI organization has eliminated the Bluegrass category for this years awards. There are many deserving, talented, and hard working Bluegrass bands and artists that deserve as much recognition as any artist in these other categories!. Bluegrass, Blues and Americana music are the mainstays of the music industry in the northern half of Wisconsin. WAMI seems to focus too much on the musicians of the Metro area and they ignore to many of the great musicians from the other regions. Club DJ gets a category but the awesome Dobro or Fiddle player does not. What a shame.
Mark,
Thanks for your feedback and point well taken!
It’s about time the WAMI awards are in the Fox Valley area, there is a music scene in places outside of Milwaukee.
Yes – please move the WAMI awards back to Milwaukee.
Excellent idea…… I love the Fox Cities area.
Please move the WAMI awards back to Milwaukee.
Thanks
I think doing the wami’s every other year is the best way to do it. While I know SOME milwaukee musicians think the music world ends beyond their city, the fox cities are very deserving….we have a wonderful scene here and are very honored to host the wami’s by-yearly or whatever.
P.s…..could we have the sound guy / sound co. Award brought back?????
The reason I say this is any good musician will tell you most of the time their band is only as good as their production team makes them…..sound that is
