TALENTED, YOUNG MUSICIANS SOUGHT FOR WAMI YOUTH SHOWCASE
Select Vocalists, Duos, Trios or Bands Will Get Opportunity to Perform at Wisconsin State Fair
MILWAUKEE, (May 20, 2009) – The Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) is looking for talented kids between the ages of eight and 18 to take part in its 2009 Youth Showcase on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 2 to 4:30 p.m., at the World Café Stage during this year’s Wisconsin State Fair. The event is an opportunity for aspiring young vocalists, duos, trios or bands to showcase their talents in a non-competitive, yet professional performance venue.
To be considered for the Youth Showcase, WAMI requires young musicians to submit a videotape, CD or DVD of a recent performance, along with a cover page that includes the names of the performers, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. The deadline for receiving submission packets is Wednesday, June 10.
Submissions can be made to: WAMI Youth Showcase, c/o Barbara Wagner, 3170 W. Dakota St., Milwaukee, WI 53215. Those kids chosen to perform at Wisconsin State Fair will be notified by Tuesday, June 24.
Since 1980, WAMI’s mission has been to promote music in Wisconsin and provide continuing education for music industry professionals through monthly meetings and semi-annual music seminars. The group also funds a Youth Music Showcase and provides scholarships to students and emerging artists.
