2011 WAMI Fast Pitch Update!
Imagine a room full of Wisconsin Talent Buyers** and you have just 3 minutes to tell them why they should book you or your band at their next event. WAMI will give area musicians that chance at the 3rd Annual “WAMI Fast Pitch“ on Sunday, November 13, 2011 starting at 12:00 PM at Club Garibaldi, 2501 South Superior Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Representatives from area festivals and clubs** will be looking for talent at WAMI Fast Pitch to book for their 2012 events.
This will be a great opportunity for you/your band to be creative, leave an impression and get your press kits directly into the hands of Wisconsin Talent Buyers. Each Artist/Band will only be allowed 3 minutes with each Talent Buyer, so it will be extremely important for you to really nail your pitch (for pitch help see 15secondpitch.com). For efficiency, a maximum of two representatives per Artist/Band will be allowed. This is a unique opportunity for Talent Buyers and Artists to meet in-person, so please, no electronic audio or video presentations. That’s what websites, email and EPK’s are for.
General Rules:
- 3 minutes per meeting.
- Check-in for Buyers and Artists will begin on the day of the event at 11:30 AM.
- 15 Artists per flight (time slot), with 3 flights possible — Noon, 1 PM and 2 PM.* First-come, first-served. ALL Talent Buyers and Artists/Representatives and MUST check in at 11:30 am to confirm their slot, regardless of flight.
- This is a unique opportunity for Talent Buyers and Artists to meet in-person. Please, no electronic audio or video presentations. That’s what websites, email and EPK’s are for.
- WAMI Membership Purchases/Renewals will be processed at the event to allow for Member Event Discounts.
- Talent Buyer/Venue list is subject to subtle changes. Venues may have preferences as to type of act hired. Please ask them.***
Registration Fees: ****
- Event-Only, Non-WAMI Member Registrants (Up to 2 Artist Representatives allowed.) - $30
- Event-Only, 2011 WAMI Member Registrants (Proof of Membership required*. Up to 2 Artist Representatives allowed.) - $20
- Event + 2012 WAMI Individual Membership New/Renewal (Proof of Membership required*. Up to 2 Artist Representatives allowed.) - $40
- Event + 2012 WAMI Band/Business Membership New/Renewal (Proof of Membership required*. Up to 2 Artist Representatives allowed.) - $110
Accepted Methods of Payment:
- Preregistration will be accepted via PayPal until Saturday November 12, 2011 at 12:00 PM
- Cash, or Check/Money Order made payable to: “Wisconsin Area Music Industry” will be accepted at the door on the day of the event for event-only registration and for WAMI Membership renewal and associated event discounts.

- Networking before, during and after the event at Club Garibaldi for all
- Snacks and light refreshments provided free of charge for Talent Buyers.
Club Garibadi has a wide variety of food available on their Menu for patrons and Fast Pitch attendees.

- Artists – Bring: Press Kits, CDs, Business Cards, Glossy Photos, Merch…Creative Genius, Gift-of-Fast-Gab…Proof of WAMI Membership for discounts and Membership Renewals.
- Buyers – Bring: Business Cards and Venue Information for booking purposes.

How many press kits should I prepare for the Fast Pitch Event?

Good question!
I just received the most recent list of Talent Buyers that are confirmed to date. As always we work on confirming more usually until the day of the event. Sometimes we also have last minute changes, Some buyers will prohibit cover acts others will only want cover acts. Some will work with both. It’s up to you. 20-25 I think you’ll be alright, more is safer. You never know who else you’ll meet.
I’m wondering what proof of WAMI membership we will need for the fast pitch. I joined through paypal.

Thanks for your question. A printed copy of your PayPal receipt in your case would sufficient. If any one has paid by check or money order, a copy of their Membership Registration Notification email that contains the date submitted and a copy of the canceled check. Unless you registered a few days before Fast Pitch and paid by check or money order, your payment should have been processed.
When a band signs up online for Fast Pitch with membership renewal will they need all of the band member information for this? Also if a band has a new member how will that information be captured via online Fast Pitch Registration?

Good questions!
If you look on the existing (new) WAMI Online Membership Registration System, we’ve tried to set up some rules for this and when I add the PayPal form to the Fast Pitch page today, I’ll explain it there as well.
When a Band Member purchases a Band/Business New/Renewed Membership, they get a slightly different set of instructions. They first become the “Responsible Party” for the transaction and the point of contact if there are any issues with payment. They need to register with ALL required information and then select a method of payment for their /Business New/Renewed Membership whether doing this at Fast Pitch or not. The Fast Pitch Preregistration area will be a slightly different version of this.
Their information is now stored in the Membership database.
There is a second page in the “Join” area of the website for adding additional Member information. Go to the “JOIN>Jon WAMI>Add Band/Business Members” page. If a Member preregisters for Fast Pitch and pays with PayPal, they will be instructed to go there, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS, and enter each additional Business/Band Member’s information.on their own time. Additional Band/Business Member Information WILL NOT BE PROCESSED AT EVENTS because of time constraints.
IMPORTANT. The Name, Email Address, Method of Purchase and Identifying Number (Check or Money Order#, PayPal Transaction# or cash code) WIL BE NECESSARY to validate the additional Band/Business Memberships.
For adding Members 2-6 and up, LOG IN using the Name, (Membership Purchaser’s) Email address -This becomes the Login Email, and Band/Business Name used at purchase/renewal payment.
WAMI is asking that because the system is new, that full information be entered for each Member as well. In the future, only changed/updated information need be entered. Members whose information are not received will not have their Memberships processed or receive the benefits of WAMI Membership.

Details on registration and preregistration via PayPal for the 2011 WAMI Fast Pitch will be available on this page soon. We hope to update the list of venues regularly also.
In person payment will be available via cash/check/money order on the day of the event.
